Yes, so  we can 

        1) have the auto snippet generator add a version stamp and add
        docs to the wiki without overwriting previous versions.
        Presumably this means there would be a "current cvs" updated
        with each build and a "release" version updated, *only when different
        from the last release*, for each release. A tough automation job but 
        doable for a script god.

        2) ensure that "releases" have their own docs instead of relying
        on the web site exclusively for documentation.
