Oh, I think I misunderstood yours initial question. Yes, it should be possible to attach an authority code to a CRS. If the CRS is parsed from WKT, having the following WKT element should work (but I didn't tested - if it doesn't work, let met known and I will fix it).

 ..., AUTHORITY["SRID", "some number"]

One philosophical question is whatever "SRID" should be treated as an authority or not. But for now I don't see any obvious alternative.

If the CRS are parsed from WKT but the above-cited WKT element addition is not pratical, I could try to add some hooks in the WKT parser API for allowing users to perform this kind of addition programmatically.
