My original plan for allowing grouping to be turned on/off was to do
what you're suggesting above, but i didnt have the time to do all the
fancy stuff.  It seems you've found a use case for it.

You should be able to easily add this in.

Just make sure the priority stuff still functions correctly.  This
should be easy if you just merge all the different hash tables together
with the non-grouped list.
