k, thanks, I tried recoloring the grid by hand and haven't had much luck,
but I'll keep looking.

I'm not very up to date on this topic, but I think color map is
supported only on a subset of the coverages we can handle, for example,
it works with gtopo30 and arc grid afaik.
The code that actually recolors grids is in RasterSymbolizerSupport.
You may want to go thru it with a debugger and see why your coverage
is not getting recolored.
