Hi René, Ian, Jody, Paul and All,

For a project Paul and I are working on, we want some fairly basic mapping
functionality. We want to produce images of the data that can be layered and
merged/joined and legends that accompany those. We are now working with GML,
but have recently been working with Shapefiles. Our current plan is to develop
and apply appropriate SLD documents to render the map components and output as
image files. The image files are then to be displayed in a portlet.

For the time being we are not interested in zooming or panning or dynamic
linking, we just want some static (and appropriately coloured) images.

I am currently using GeoTools 2.3.1 bin release and the GeoTools 2.3 API. Paul
has looked at various other GeoTools versions.

We would like to help and need to make some progress very soon.

Do we want something so different that we are best trying to contribute
elsewhere?

Please forgive our lack of knowledge about the entire history of GeoTools. Any
advice? Your collaboration is much appreciated!

Best wishes,

Andy

Added a comment here:

Note having a page for users to see that you are alive is needed even for
unsupported modules ;-)

Rene - Ian here is the guy you want to work with, Cheers, Jody
