I was recently at a small open source gis conference in Boulder. One
of the presenters, G Hussain Chinoy, had an interesting walk through of the
recently released Java version of World Wind, which I gather is a complete
rewrite of the original .net version.
There is an svn for an Eclipse plugin version Chinoy has worked on.
The discussion afterwards indicated a knowledge of uDig and an interest in
seeing how the two might be integrated. Since I've recently been playing
with 3D OWS interfaces I was especially interested in the possibilities.
The open source license is unusual. It's called 'NASA Open Source
License', which led to some discussion in its own right?

No not yet. There is serious interest in upgrading the geotools geometry
system, first towards the OGC specifications as captured by GeoAPI and
then toward 3D. Beyond that, there has been some thought of tying World
Wind and geotools together, especially once NASA releases the Java SDK.
