And started experimenting with dwithin for you; looks to me like it allows you to buffer back inside your geometry by the set amount. - intersects - gives me 88 pubs - dwith and 1 km - gives me 60 pubs - beyond and 1 km - gives me 417 pubs I always use not / disjoint myself... but to each their own.
