The easiest way to do it is to use the osm2psql tool and then export
the fields you need as a shapefile from postgis if you really need a
shapefile.

Hi Ian,

  This might sound silly but, apologise if it does sound that way, where can
i find the osm2psql tool?
Also, can you tell me why this part of the forum was moved onto Nabbl2?
before it was Nabble1, did something major happen?
