It's a replacement for PostGIS datatore that I coded over the Christmas break. It passes all the tests in the jdbc-ng unit testing harness, I tested it for performance and decided to make both a prepared statement path (more secure), and a non prepared statement path (faster, since the optimizer can decide a better plan depending on what/how big bbox you're querying on spatial queries). The non prepared statement path is just as fast as the old postgis datastore afaik. It has received no real world testing whatsoever thought.
