Mind, that jira is still open, it means the fix/functionality described there has not been committed, the target release is either a tentative one set by the developer, or a wish a user is expressing. In general an unclosed Jira is just a reminder/wish to work on a specific topic, if you want to to have guarantees it will fixed anytime soon you should contribute the fix yourself or find someone that will work on it for you.
