I think you have done it; I will take your email as request for access to the 
blog. 

I will send you an invite now; and you can write out your blog post. You can 
put up a download announcement each time you have something; or edit the 2.7.1 
announcement with an extra link (whatever suites you).

Other than that we just use the blog post when we have something GeoTools based 
to talk about; if you are worried about posting you can leave the post in blog 
form and ask someone to review prior to hitting "publish". I often do this 
given my haphazard spelling :-)
