The namespace prefix is not significant, as long as the namespace is correctly declared using a xmlns attribute. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XML_namespace for more details.
When the sld files are loaded to geoserver. Geoserver fails to render the features probably because it is not able to read files correctly.
