I've just committed some changes to JMapPane as briefly described in the comments on this issue: https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-3791 The 8-SNAPSHOT build is running at the moment and the new jars will be available in 15 minutes or so. If building GeoTools locally you can check out the updated code from trunk right now.
