As far as I know, a profile defined like this:
<profile>
<id>windows</id>
<activation>
<os>
<family>windows</family>
<arch>x86</arch>
</os>
</activation>
<properties>
<swt.groupId>org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32</swt.groupId>
<swt.artifactId>x86</swt.artifactId>
</properties>
</profile>
automatically activates if, and only if, the operating system is a win32 one.
So it should really be transparent to the user, which is, I believe, the
best scenario.
