I am afraid I did not transfer update instructions as far bad as the GeoTools
2.2 release:(
The gt-swing module (and thus StyledMapPane) never made it through QA checks -
JMapPane is the replacement.
You can implement your own NorthArrow as a DirectLayer, you will need to do the
trick of projecting back to EPSG:4326, moving a little bit north, and then
going back to the map CRS in order to figure out which direction north is.
