I think it is Tom, each aggregate function is implemented internally as a
"visitor" on a feature collection (yes I know patterns I am sorry).
ContentFeatureSource checks to see if the visitor can be "handled", if so
the JDBCDataStore is in change of sending off the SQL and packaging up the
result. If not the java side "visitor" implementation is used.
