If you look at the bottom of that program there is a
method createSimpleFeature which creates random points for the test code.
It should show you how to correctly create features from your polygon
coordinates,
You will also need to change
schema = DataUtilities.createType("", "Location",
"locations:Point:srid=4326," + // <- the geometry attribute:
// Point type
"name:String," + // <- a String attribute
"number:Integer" );
to build a polygon instead of a point.
