Their are several quoickstarts that do not require checking out the source
code with Git. We provide a download of the prebuild jars for use in
eclipse or netbeans.

Specifically see the netbeans quick start section called maven repository:

I do however recommend using maven (netbeans has support for maven) as it
will take care of many compatibility issues and is easier in the long term.
