Sorry we had a delay releasing 15.0. There is no reason not to use 15-beta2
(the codebase is currently frozen). I have updated the release schedule
<https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/wiki/Release-Schedule> - to give
you a better idea what to expect:

2016-05-18 14.4 maintenance release
2016-05-18 15.0 initial stable release
2016-04-29 15-RC1   release candidate

While I have some ideas on what I would like to clean up (move
AbstractDataStore to an unsupported module) and add (the new YSLD community
module) we will be waiting for the 16.x series for any further changes.
