Hi Georg,
as far as I know, support for "M" is missing, no data source supports
reading it, and
upper levels (processing, rendering) would be confused by finding a 3rd (or
4th)
ordinate, if 3rd it may be treated as Z by mistake.
Output encoding/write support is also missing, although in some formats it
would
not really be possible to implement it in a compliant way e.g., GML or
latest GeoJSON
are both missing the very notion of an M (could still be implemented as an
extension
if both producer and consumer are aware of it).
I'm not aware of ongoing efforts to implement such support, we'd need some
seed sponsor
helping us implement M support in at least one data source, and one or more
upper
level stages (possibly in a way that hides the M to the others not aware of
it).
