Hi, You're absolutely right about WFS being slow. I'm not in a position to compare it with older versions. For me it looks like the most time consuming part is the parsing of Capabilities. That means it doesn't matter if it's a local file or downloaded from the server. What takes time is to read through the stream and build up the object structure.
