Awhile ago I found this very well written paper tracing the original
use of the term and it's varied use throughout the last 80+ years.
Fortunately convinced the author to update the Wikipedia page on
"Neogeography".

I haven't gotten a chance to blog about it yet, but am putting it out
here for something people to ponder as part of the very long
discussion and a way to perhaps better structure this potentially
beneficial discourse that will hopefully guide the future of our
domain's evolution.
