Hi

I thought this would be a good place to get some feedback on the geowanking list know about a competition I am about to run on teldomains.com. If you are not aware of .tel domains take a look at the http://telnic.org, or http://telreg.com sites for more info.

.tel domains are not publicly available yet, but will be in March. There is an interesting use of NAPTR records to store location information right there in the DNS, which may interest members of this list. The power of the .tel system is its ease of integration (via dns) and control over privacy using encryption pairing.

The competition is for a development android phone that was ordered from the android site and will be shipped to the winner wherever you are in the world at no cost to you.

The current idea for the competition is to come up with the best open source project for an application that uses .tel names. The project idea must be:

- Open Source
- Preferably involving/for the andriod phone
- Relatively Unique (not just a copy of the yellow pages! of which I am sure there will be many sites like that)

It can be an existing project, and the final judges will be the community. There may also be follow up financial support for the project, but I cannot guarantee that at this stage.

What do you all think of the competition? Would it interest anyone?

Kind regards and happy new year!

Paul Harwood
