Hi Cameron, Rob, Paul, list,

I forwarded this to my friend Gobe Hobona
(http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/~lgzgeh1/).

He replied that Rob Lemmens's PhD project used Oracle BPM.
http://www.itc.nl/library/papers_2006/phd/lemmens.pdf

The OGC OWS-4 Workflow testbed used Oracle BPM too.
OGC 06-187r1

SAW-GEO used ActiveBPEL.

Now, I'm not sure about the others, but there is a community open source
version of ActiveBPEL, though I'm not sure of the license... I used this
to follow what was done in SAW-GEO. It all worked and at the time I was
impressed with ActiveBPEL given my very limited experience with other
workflow enactors :-)

I am to feed a workflows requirements section for an NCeSS
e-Infrastructure project report (from a geographical perspective) being
edited by Rob. Paul has been developing code to use workflow enactors
within a portal environment using NetBeans and Taverna
(http://taverna.sourceforge.net/). The application can be broadly
described as Geospatial. Taverna is open source under LGPL Version 2.1.

I'm not expert in this, but I am interested in what others are doing. As
described, I have work to do... TIA for any feedback...

Best wishes,

Andy

Subject: [Geowanking] Business Process Management in the Open
GeospatialSpace?

geowankers,
I'm interested to know if anyone has been using any of the Open Source
Business Process Management tools for Geoprocessing workflow.

We are planning to use a BPM tool internally (for non-Geospatial work)
and I'd prefer to select a tool that we can use in the Geospatial space
as well.

Two contenders we are considering are http://www.processmaker.com/ and
http://www.intalio.com/
