Hello all,
We have a new(-ish) crs defined for a small country. We submitted it to
the EPSG registry and it appears there now. I’m wondering whether it
still needs to be propagated more widely. Is EPSG at the top of a
dissemination tree where other utilities will pick it up, or are there
other bodies to whom it should be sent?
Kevin,
Generally speaking once it is in the EPSG database it will eventually
be available in most open source and proprietary software packages - though
the lag time can be quite high. Assuming you are patient, you have now
done the key step. You might want to provide good reference information,
test points and other background on the coordinate system on the web
in a stable location and get that referenced from the supporting comments
in the EPSG database, so people with questions or concerns can find it.
Best regards,
