The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA <http://www.cta.int/> ) has launched a Photo Competition.
Two weeks are left to enter the contest! Participants can win prizes up to Euro 900! CTA, IFAD, the Ford Foundation and other partner organisations are producing a multimedia multilingual training kit supporting the spread of good participatory mapping practice. A collection of images - resulting from the competition - will be included in the kit which will be freely available in different languages in 2010. Note: You can submit 3 photographs per category. Category 01 - Capacity Building Photos in a multicultural environment (possibly in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples) that illustrate the act of transferring knowledge and learning. Category 02 - Attitudes, Behaviours and Ethics Photos in a multicultural environment (possibly in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples) that evoke, in body language or appearance, the sentiment of good or bad attitudes and behaviours in development work. Category 03 - Fundamentals of training delivery and facilitation Photos in a multicultural environment (possibly in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples) that depict the act of transfer of knowledge among adults. Category 04 - Community Groundwork and Processes Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the act of community consultation between "outsiders" and "insiders". Category 05 - Enabling and disabling environments Photos that evoke the sentiment of enabling or disabling environments in developmental work. Category 06 - Choice of Participatory Mapping Method based on purpose, environment and resources Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the act of discussion / choosing / possibly comparing different geographic information technologies. Category 07 - Technical preparation and Logistics Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the act and dynamics activities which are introductory to on-filed participatory mapping activities. Category 08 - Ground and Sketch Mapping Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the act and dynamics of participatory ground or sketch mapping. Category 09 - Participatory Scale Mapping and Surveying Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the act and dynamics of participatory scale mapping, the use of GPS in the field and other devices used for measuring and geo-locating features. Category 10 - Participatory 3D Modelling Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the act and dynamics of participatory 3D modelling in all its phases. Category 11 - Participatory Mapping using aerial and remote sensed images Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the act and dynamics of participatory photo interpretation or the participatory use of remote sensed images. Category 12 - Introduction to GIS for the Purpose of practicing PGIS Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the act and dynamics of using GIS . Category 13 - Participatory internet based mapping Photos that depict the act and dynamics of using computers to access and manipulate internet based data . Category 14 - Documentation Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict the acts of documenting (map making) processes at community level by different means like hand written note-taking, video or audio recording, photographing or using participatory methodologies for gathering data (e.g. democracy walls, etc.) Category 15 - Action Planning Photos in Developing Countries and/or among Indigenous Peoples that depict one or more of the following acts: (i) planning; (ii) strategising; (iii) communicating; (iv) networking; and (v) advocacy You are welcome to participate in the competition and to disseminate this announcement.
