burning man posits itself as a carefully curated counter culture
event; selecting for a certain kind of person and avoiding specific
elements of urban society that create barriers between people : like
money, comfort, commercial advertising, heavily mediated interactions,
normal social boundaries, safe art and safety in general.

if they think that cellphones and the like are bad then maybe they
are. i respect their curation.

i don't think burningman anarchistic in the sense of hey anything
goes; i think there is a deliberate curation of the people and policy.

at the same time i'm all for trying to see what the limits of real
time awareness could be - we all know whats just over the horizon -
it's been ranted on enough - i don't think burning man needs to be the
place for manifesting that per se.  i want real time situational
awareness to help refactor my real cities.
