burning man posits itself as a carefully curated counter culture event; selecting for a certain kind of person and avoiding specific elements of urban society that create barriers between people : like money, comfort, commercial advertising, heavily mediated interactions, normal social boundaries, safe art and safety in general.
if they think that cellphones and the like are bad then maybe they are. i respect their curation. i don't think burningman anarchistic in the sense of hey anything goes; i think there is a deliberate curation of the people and policy. at the same time i'm all for trying to see what the limits of real time awareness could be - we all know whats just over the horizon - it's been ranted on enough - i don't think burning man needs to be the place for manifesting that per se. i want real time situational awareness to help refactor my real cities. _______________________________________________ Geowanking mailing list [email protected] http://geowanking.org/mailman/listinfo/geowanking_geowanking.org
