Hi folks,
Long time reader, first time poster... I think

I want to make google mashup that uses data from a google calendar and lets
me view a map (maps.google...), and select visibility of map results by
EVENT DATE (when and where there will be conferences and trainings
happening), geo-filtered by date, so to speak. Basically like healthmap.org,
but with data sources coming from simple google calendar RSS feeds... Really
cool would be to somehow have EVENT CATEGORIES so I could choose which type
of events to see. I suppose I could just create separate google calendars
for that, and then consume their RSS feeds separately to create that
functionality. So, RSS to feed the events from google calendars, and some
interface that lets me filter by timeframe, like ALL EVENTS between
03/01/09-05/01/09. I'll zoom to the region where I'll be during then, and
see if there's anything going on for me to check out while I'm there.

Someone must have already created this with simple tools. Anyone know how to
make that date filter slider tool that I see on healthmap.org ? I haven't
looked deeply at the latest google tools for mashing up RSS feeds. How about
being able to send SMS messages from a phone to populate the calendar/GeoRSS
feed of events by phone, no internet access needed. Any open source services
for converting SMS msgs to RSS? Any help would be great, how to URLs, etc?

OS tools a plus.

Thanks!
-D
