GEOSS in the Americas -- Building on the recent GEOSS in the Americas Symposium in Panama in September, 2008, we want to inform you of a new opportunity available through the Group on Earth Observations (GEO). GEO has issued a Call for Proposals (CFP) for organizations to propose projects that apply Earth observations in decision making. This CFP seeks to promote practical applications of Earth observations to improve decision making and to highlight specific examples in which Earth observations provide societal benefit. The CFP has a strong interest to support end users in developing countries This CFP requests projects for the following GEO Societal Benefit Areas: Agriculture (including forests), Energy, Health (including air quality), and Water. In the first stage, project teams submit brief Concept Proposals (5 pages maximum). The Concept Proposals are due June 4, 2009. GEO will review these Concept Proposals and determine which projects to connect with resource-providing organizations and experts in Earth observations. The GEO Call for Proposals is available through website: http://www.earthobservations.org/geoss_call_dsp.shtml GEO will soon hold an international teleconference to explain the Call for Proposals and answer questions. We strongly encourage you to read the CFP and submit proposals. For questions, contact: Fernando Ramos and Imraan Saloojee, [email protected] _______________________________________________ CAGList mailing list [email protected] https://lists.uvic.ca/mailman/listinfo/caglist -- Tracey P.
