I am in the early stages of planning an unconference based on the
WhereCamp/BarCamp format (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp).
The
University of Denver has graciously offered to host the unconference
but I
need to nail down dates and approximate number of people ASAP.
Please email
me, [email protected], with a non-binding expression of interest. A
simple +1
reply is adequate.
I am currently planning around these dates and number of attendants:
Dates: July 31-Aug 1st
Rooms: 6 rooms on Friday, 4 rooms on Saturday
People: 80 first day, 20 second day
I expect the Front-Range Geospatial community, being what it is,
will have a
stronger draw for a weekday focused on presentations than a weekend of
hacking. So I split the dates over a Friday and Saturday with a much
higher
anticipated attendance for Friday.
Note: DU won't allow overnight camping. If there is strong interest
in an
all-night hackathon, I'll track down nearby cheap hotels with free
WiFi. And
to put a little more camp back into WhereCamp, I'm suggesting an
assault on
Long's Peak or some other notable hike for the following Sunday,
August 2nd.

It's just been brought to my attention that my dates overlap GeoWeb!
Please, if you are at all interested in WhereCamp5280 but are also
attending
GeoWeb, let me know. We can shift the dates.
