I'm not sure what you mean by "service-frequency" guides - could you provide an 
example?

I've been procrastinating creating one of those "commuting heat maps" that 
basically take into account transit data to show you neighborhoods/areas that 
you can reach within X, Y, and Z minutes from your house.  I have to see what 
data is available from our local transit agency...

Do any of you have experience building Transit Maps?  Specifically, do you
have any tips for creating "service-frequency guides" from raw data?  I
