Hello all,

I was wondering whether applying the term Geomatics to mapping other planets
is correct. Because as we go to the basic definition Geo - relates to earth.

So, shouldn't there be a separate term for a science related to mapping of
planets.

However, this term has already got a place and many have adopted this term
it seems. For instance look at this USGS link
http://astrogeology.usgs.gov/Teams/Geomatics/ and lot of links in search
engines point to this term.

Any views from this elite club!!
