"GPS Business News" apparently went far enough to get a bit more detail: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:tnE_D1Y5XpoJ:www.gpsbusinessnews.com/Nokia-Sells-Metacarta-s-B2B-Customers-Retains-Technology_a2357.html+nokia+press+release+metacarta&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=safari "The very short Nokia press release did not explain the full story behind this divestment which clearly led to some misunderstandings (read for example the Associated Press news via Business Week). GPS Business News was fortunately able to talk to John Frank, founder and CTO of Metacarta. Basically Metacarta is cut in two pieces: in one hand all the engineering team is staying with Nokia and in the other hand the sales team will continue to handle their government, oil and gas customers as a subsidiary of Qbase, with technology licenses from Nokia. Don Zereski, former CEO at Metacarta is now leading the Ovi Search department at Nokia with engineering staff mainly in Cambridge, Massachusetts (where Metacarta was based) and Berlin (where Ovi Maps is based). John Frank is himself Principal Architect Ovi Search. Within Nokia Ovi Search is part of Ovi Experience, a division lead by Michael Halbherr, formerly responsible of Ovi Maps.
