I've collected a large set of power outage maps here http://vielmetti.typepad.com/vacuum/2011/06/power-outage-maps.html
with screen captures of more than 50 different ways that utility companies visualize the impact of storms and other problems on their infrastructure. I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with any literature in the field of mapping for utility companies - in a cursory search I find patent 6259972 (Sumic, 2001), and this 2004 survey of the costs of "reliability events". thanks Ed Title: Understanding the cost of power interruptions to U.S. electricity consumers Author: LaCommare, Kristina Hamachi; Eto, Joseph H.
