This is what I'm most interested in. I wrote up my thoughts here: http://highearthorbit.com/foursquare-and-openstreetmap/ but generally, you're right that you have users with geolocated devices inputting data about a specific topic. This could just as easily be pushing into OSM and would have more popular traction than the generalized apps such as Mapzen that are a bit overwhelming for someone that just wants to mark "Coffee Shop!" or "Lincoln Park". The difficult hurdles are that businesses see too much value in this data and want to own it themselves; and that I would imagine a bit of a backlash from the existing OSM community that the "unwashed masses of consumers" are putting data into their system without being part of the community. Both issues are addressable and aren't technical but more social in solution. The more that both established and startup companies adopt OpenStreetMap the easier that conversation should become.
