This is also very cool.

How was the talk?

Subject: [Geowanking] Tabula Peutingeriana: René Voorburg talks about his
work

Anyone in or near the Netherlands today (Thursday) may be interested to go
to this talk about the Tabula Peutingeriana:

For fans of distorted maps, the Tabula Peutingeriana takes some beating. A
map of Western Europe and the Mediterranean drawn originally in the late 4th
century, the earliest copy that still exists is a 12th century copy.
Measuring 6.75m x 0.34m, the original would presumably have been portable,
with a scrolling user interface.

Using the Peutinger, Mr Voorburg has created a remarkable route planner for
4th century travellers. It is naturally in Latin.
