You assume that Apple understands maps. Doesn't bode well for Apple's
own mapping venture.

Google requires their logo and branding to be retained on all their
map images; this requirement is reflected in the App Store Review
Guidelines. For reference, you can view Google's terms of service.
Occasionally apps may be on the App Store that inappropriately use
Google Maps images. We work hard to ensure that the apps on the App
Store are in compliance and we try to identify any apps currently on
the App Store that may not be. It takes time to identify these
occurrences but another app being out of compliance is not a reason
for your app to be.
It would be appropriate to revise your app, and any related metadata
screenshots, to include the required Google branding.
