TOGETHER: A #CoPresence4Good Camp: Saturday 9/28, 10:00-5:00, IFTF
What if you could ‘walk in the shoes’ of a Syrian refugee? Or be part of
a live protest in Russia against LGBT rights abuses? Or be part of the
live video 'panic button' team for an activist at risk? How would that
transform your understanding and ability to act and how could it be
useful to people facing situations of great challenge?
At TOGETHER: A #Copresence4Good Camp we’ll look at how to harness the
potential of experiential, real-time, synchronous witnessing, learning,
and engagement for human rights activism, news reporting and general
social goodness. How does the power to 'walk in someone's shoes', to see
through others' eyes, and to be part of live, interactive and immersive
witnessing drive concrete, productive actions, engagement and
understanding across borders and timezones. Together we’ll
conceptualize, share and hack provocative tech prototypes and
tactical/design ideas.
Journalists, human rights activists, designers, techies and anyone who
cares about social good are all welcome! ‘Together’ is linked to the
‘Future for Good’ Fellowship program at Institute for the Future and
supported by the human rights group WITNESS.
