Hi mapmakers,

A couple of months ago I started looking at SecureDrop, an open platform
for anonymous sources used by Forbes and the New Yorker. Today I am
launching CartoDrop, a mod which I hope can be used by journalists,
environmentalists, treasure-seekers, and others who wish to make maps
anonymously.

Because JavaScript is blocked by secure users of the Tor browser, maps and
markers are drawn server-side with Mapnik and Natural Earth.

I encourage you to visit a demo of the site at
https://cartolijw5jhl2qg.onion.to/ or cartolijw5jhl2qg.onion in Tor.

This demo is mostly for fun. If you are wise in matters of security and
journalism you can have greater impact by getting acquainted with
SecureDrop: https://pressfreedomfoundation.org/securedrop If you can
improve or host CartoDrop maps please visit
https://github.com/msjoinder/cartodrop

Kindest regards,
Wynn
