I assume we're talking about the OSM import step of the install. pbf format seems to be about 6% of full size looking at some wiki notes. North American download from Geofabrik is 9 GB so that is roughly 150 GB once extracted. Of course if you need to go from pbf to postgis I'm not sure if there is some scratch disk required or how big the indexes get so I could see needing more room to get it in. All rough estimates...
