Executive Director (Academic Coordinator) Position Available Immediately in
the Geospatial Innovation Facility in the College of Natural Resources,
University of California at Berkeley.

The Geospatial Innovation Facility (GIF – http://gif.berkeley.edu) was
developed in 2005 at the University of California – Berkeley’s College of
Natural Resources. The mission of the GIF is to help people better
understand the complex challenges facing our changing world through the
acquisition, analysis and visualization of spatial data. We strive to
fulfill our mission by developing engaging applications that leverage and
build upon state-of-the-art geospatial and web technologies, and by
providing opportunities for new researchers to learn how they can use
spatial data to answer critical questions.

The GIF actively develops Cal-Adapt (http://cal-adapt.org) in partnership
with the California Energy Commission (CEC), LandCarbon (
http://landcarbon.org) in partnership with the US Geological Survey (USGS),
and the Berkeley Ecoinformatics Engine (http://ecoengine.berkeley.edu) in
collaboration with the Berkeley Natural History Museums (BNHM). Each of
these projects offers a unique and sophisticated approach to working with a
large and diverse array of environmental and ecological data.

The GIF also maintains the CNR computing teaching lab which hosts regularly
scheduled courses. The Executive Director plays an essential role in
leading research projects and applications, develops and teaches technical
workshops, provides organizational support to the facility, and promotes
geospatial solutions throughout the Bay Area community.
