SpeedGauge is a data analytics company that focuses on helping fleets improve driver safety. We don't focus on displaying maps, but we do a lot of work with map data. We are searching for engineers to work on our custom reverse geocoding engine and the ecosystem that surrounds it. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with Java, Python, and RESTful services, as well as Google Maps and OSM apis and libraries.

In addition, we have a large archive of location-related data that we would like to be able to visualize and analyze, so comfort with open source spatial data tools is a bonus.

This isn't a GIS position, and it isn't a web developer position, but it's somewhere in between. The initial focus is definitely more on coding than visualization.

Our office is in San Francisco, but I don't expect you to be; our team is mostly distributed and keeps in touch via slack, github, and zoom.

Please contact me directly with any questions you might have.
