MapInfo Professional has quite a few features for zip
code/demographics calculations<br />

side plug: I wrote an ingester for the US Census American
Community Survey (ACS) raw data to PostGIS; the ACS has a LOT of detailed
information on income, education, ethnicity, language, etc. The
professional demographers I have seen use STATA with ACS and Census, but
PostGIS is more fun :-)<br />
