Hi,
the mentionned book of Worboys (now second edition,Worboys and Duckham)
is IMHO a MUST!
http://worboys.duckham.org/
It introduces the basics of algorithms and datastructures (I think this
cannot be really separated...).
I think it is also very good to get an exposure to the theory, otherwise
you may be able to get answers to your questions, but without really
understanding why it is so.
For projections, there is a "bible" manual by Snyder, and the later
book, which is perfect:
Snyder, John P. 1987. Map projections: a working manual. USGS
Professional Paper 1395. Washington, DC: United States Government
Printing Office.
Bugayevskiy, Lev M. and John P. Snyder. 1995. Map Projections: A
Reference Manual. London: Taylor and Francis.
If a bunch of programmers should have two books to do decent mapping
applications that will not make geographers faint, I think these are the
two.
You may want to add something on cartographic layout, amazing how many
rules seem to be forgotten... It is a pitty.
Martin
