dear Jo,

The spec is essentially this: http://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/? artifact_id=5929&version=2 with the included csw:record schema made more explicit as a concrete profile. Of course a simpler explanation of this would be useful and I hope that can be made available soon. Although the work I mentioned is being undertaken "inside" of OWS-4, I think it would very useful to get wider feedback on the minor schema mods (particularly on what might be the most useful subset of DC terms for this purpose) and will see if that can be arranged.

The reference implementation for OWS-4 is geonetwork: http:// sourceforge.net/projects/geonetwork and http://www.fao.org/geonetwork/ srv/en/main.search , so the code to support the profile will be made available whenever Jeroen and Co. are ready to do so. Most other implementations, opensource or otherwise (even ebRIM-based ones), support some version of this profile, but the hope is certainly that they will converge on something fairly common in the course of, or as a consequence of this work.

As usual, some (but not too much) patience will be helpful (especially given that it is August) as well as feedback on how best to encode and use the DC terms exposed in the profile.

It certainly wouldn't be tremendously difficult to implement this profile in PostGIS tables and functions either, especially by further restricting the record schema and limiting the query capabilities to the simplest ones.

URL for the specs?
URL for the code?
