I've been thinking how the "ransom model" could be an interesting alternative for Europe's National Mapping Agencies. The cost of collecting a set of updates would be met - in the form of low-cost licenses - and the ransomed data would escape into the public domain. Steve, i guess you are the Steve Morris who spoke at Where2.0 about the deep issues of geodata archiving. I really enjoyed that talk. I agree with the contention that we may well one day be viewed as having lived in a "digital dark age". http://conferences.oreillynet.com/cs/where2006/view/e_sess/9059 cheers, jo _______________________________________________ Geowanking mailing list [email protected] http://lists.burri.to/mailman/listinfo/geowanking
