This is not a bad idea, but I hate how non-relevant content ends up
in these things. Perhaps hack it up to do keyword search or something?

You probably already knew this, but the normal way to use it is to
subscribe to a category of someones blog (ie. their geo, mapping,
geowanking, gis, or whatever category).  not the rss feed of the
entire blog.

I just wanted to make sure.

You'd think I'd have had enough of social software by now, huh?
