So just to be clear does any part of GeoDRM concern itself with an
encoding scheme that is comparable with say, FairPlay? Or is it all
just metadata that describes ownership, usage restrictions &c?
As far as I know (and I did miss some of the last set of GeoDRM
meetings) there is not anything going on with encoding schemes. Much
of the current work is on metadata etc.
Or to put it another way is there any part of GeoDRM that would be
incompatible with the implementation of a free software decoder?
Again AFAIK then only implementation currently is an open source stack
fro 52N. There are certainly no shortage of open source developers
and academics at the meetings.
