I'm not really proposing those rights, I'm just wondering if having
physical rights to a place gives you any rights to how that space is
represented in virtual space.

        Hi, All!

I can imagine that depicting a place as being rights-owned may violate the rights of that owner (!!).

I'd kinda like to make sure that our data is used within our license (GPL). I figured on just tagging the set in some way, but it would be effectively ignored by any kind of software out there. I'm not sure how much of a deterrant a flag set in some field is going to dissuade someone from violating a license -- if the intent is there.

I was considering modifying the wifimaps data to add some sort of 'signature' to it, so that we'd be able to tell if the data were being used outside of the license we chose to publish it under (GPL). I don't know how to do that.

I can imagine that there would be almost twice as much infrastructure required to handle keys, additional tables, license-tags, and trusted authorities -- as you'd need just to house/use your spatial data in the first place. This is a concern for me.

        Heh. geowarez.
