Using modules in other languages as a basis for ideas, I would suggest
a generic geocoder module. There are examples in geopy & georb
http://exogen.case.edu/projects/geopy/
http://foss4r.dyndns.org/trac/changeset/26

or a GeoRSS parser/producer (for ruby there is GeoRSS4rb)
http://rubyforge.org/projects/georss4rb/

a generic Micoformat (for geo/adr) parser on HTML pages:
Mofo: http://mofo.rubyforge.org/

Here is a list of Geo Ruby projects that are being tossed about:
http://foss4r.dyndns.org/trac/wiki/projects

again, this is where it'd be nice to have a "matrix" of functionality
vs. language for filling in blanks and examples :)

What about a gpsd client/server (for providing geo-ip, geo-wifi, etc.
location to gpsd)?

I've released a few Perl modules that might be of interest to the
collected wankers:

http://search.cpan.org/~andya/

Geo::Gpx updated to read and write GPX 1.0 and 1.1
Geo::Lookup::ByTime the guts of, for example, a photo time -> geotag
program
GPS::Babel              a wrapper around gpsbabel

I'm looking to keep going in the same vein - so if anyone has
requests for modules that might be useful hit me with them :)
